What requirements should the monitoring point layout of combustible gas alarm meet?

Publication Date:2022/08/02

Combustible gas alarm has the characteristics of rapid detection of combustible gas concentration in the working environment, and can be widely used in non-coal mines, metallurgy, steelmaking, archaeology, exploration, coal chemical industry, petroleum, gas, municipal administration, fire fighting and other industrial sites that need to detect and monitor gas leakage and prevent explosion and poisoning. However, in order to better detect the change of gas accurately, the layout of the monitoring point of the combustible gas alarm is also required. What are the requirements for the layout of monitoring points for flammable gas alarm ? The following is a brief introduction by yi yun Tian:

according to the SH3063-1999" design specification for combustible gas detection and alarm for petrochemical enterprises ", the layout of monitoring points of combustible gas alarm shall meet the following requirements:

1. in the equipment area arranged in open air or semi-open air, when the detection point is located on the windward side of the minimum frequency wind direction of the release source, the distance between the combustible gas detection point and the release source should not be greater than 15m, the distance between the toxic gas detection point and the release source should not be greater than 2m; when the detection point is located at the downwind side of the minimum frequency wind direction of the release source, the distance between the combustible gas detection point and the release source should not be greater than 5m, and the distance between the toxic gas detection point and the release source should be less than 1m.

2. when the combustible gas release source is in a closed or semi-closed factory building, one detector can be set every 15m, and the combustible gas alarm detector should not be more than 7.5m away from any release source. The toxic gas detector should not be more than 1m away from the release source.

3. if the combustible gas release source lighter than air is in a closed or semi-closed plant, a detector should be set above the release source, and a detector should also be set at the highest point in the plant where combustible gas is easy to accumulate.

4. detectors should be set up in the following places that are not within the effective coverage area of combustible gas alarm detectors: 1) process devices that use or produce liquefied hydrocarbons/or toxic gases, storage and transportation facilities and other pits where combustible gas and toxic gas may accumulate and on the ground at the lowest point of the drainage ditch. 2) Easy to accumulate Class A gas, toxic gas "dead angle".

5. the installation height of the detector for detecting combustible gas or toxic gas heavier than air shall be 0.3 ∽ 0.6m from the floor (or floor). the installation height of the detector for detecting combustible gas or toxic gas lighter than air shall be 0.5 ∽ 2m higher than the release source.

In summary, there are some requirements that the monitoring point layout of the combustible gas alarm should meet. Combustible gas alarm is currently mainly used for the detection of combustible gas concentration at the scene of the accident, can detect single or multiple combustible gas explosion limit concentration (percentage content), and give an alarm portable equipment, can ensure that the technical personnel in the more unfavorable working environment successfully detect gas, while ensuring personal safety.
