  1. Background:


  During routine quarantine and supervision, customs authorities must monitor sulfuryl fluoride application concentrations in real-time during the fumigation of import and export goods. Additionally, safety checks for residual sulfuryl fluoride concentrations within containers and warehouses are required after fumigation is complete but before container opening operations begin. These measures aim to ensure the effectiveness of fumigation treatments while safeguarding on-site personnel and the environment, ensuring compliance with quarantine industry standards (such as SN/T 3401-2012) regarding post-fumigation residual concentrations in the air (≤20.9 mg/m³, or approximately 5 ppm).

  A "dual-device collaborative" approach (covering both high and low measurement ranges) is adopted to meet testing needs at different stages:


  1. Fumigation Process Monitoring: A high-concentration infrared analyzer (range: 0–200 g/m³) is used during the fumigation application phase. It employs pump-based sampling via ports on the container or fumigation chamber to provide real-time concentration readings, ensuring the applied concentration meets process specifications.


  2. Residual Concentration Testing: After the mandated ventilation period, a high-sensitivity residual detector (range: 0–1,000 ppm or 0–100 ppm) is used to measure low concentrations inside the container, on cargo surfaces, and in the work environment. If the reading is below 5 ppm (approximately 20.9 mg/m³), the environment is deemed safe for container opening operations.


  Technical Principle: All devices utilize Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) absorption spectroscopy technology, which offers specific selectivity for sulfuryl fluoride.
