Yiyuntian Eranntex online gas monitoring solution overcomes the challenges of gas monitoring in underground mines and confined spaces

Publication Date:2026/06/10

In energy sectors such as coal-fired power, thermal energy, and new energy, production environments are often complex, with operations spread across widely dispersed locations. Underground areas, valve pits, and various confined spaces are particularly prone to the accumulation of toxic, harmful, flammable, and explosive gases—such as methane, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen sulfide. Failure to detect gas leaks promptly can lead to severe accidents, including poisoning, asphyxiation, or explosions, posing a significant threat to personnel safety and operational stability.

Faced with increasingly stringent safety management standards, traditional methods—such as single-point detection and manual inspections—can no longer meet the needs of modern industrial facilities. Enterprises urgently require a highly reliable, explosion-proof online monitoring system that supports networked, centralized management. Such a system enables real-time, multi-zone, and multi-gas monitoring with remote alarming, facilitating the early detection of hazards and precise risk control.

To address these industry challenges, Yiyuntian Eranntex developed a fixed online gas detection solution specifically tailored for the complex operating conditions of the energy sector. This solution has already been successfully implemented across multiple production units under Huaneng Mengdong Company, establishing a comprehensive, intelligent, and highly stable gas safety monitoring system that significantly enhances safety management capabilities and emergency response efficiency.

  1. Solution Background:

Ten units under Huaneng Mengdong Company—including Yimin Coal-Electricity Company—operate across diverse sectors such as coal-fired power, thermal energy, and new energy, requiring real-time online detection of various toxic and harmful gases. The operational environments are complex; some detection points are located underground or in confined spaces like valve pits, presenting major safety risks such as poisoning or explosions caused by gas leaks. The client required a highly reliable and cost-effective online gas detection system capable of real-time monitoring, linked alarm responses, and centralized control to ensure production safety.

  3. Solution:

Based on on-site operating conditions, the GTYQ-MIC-500S gas detector (magnetic wand version) and MIC3000 bus-based controller were selected to meet requirements for explosion-proofing, interference resistance, and long-distance signal transmission.

Level 1 Warning (concentration reaches preset value): Controller triggers a pop-up alarm; on-site audible and visual alarms activate, prompting personnel to investigate.

Level 2 Warning (concentration reaches a higher threshold): Can trigger interlocks with external equipment such as exhaust systems and shut-off valves (subject to on-site integration capabilities).

The project covers 10 branch plants, utilizing a total of 351 detectors and over 20 controllers to achieve unified monitoring and centralized management.

The successful deployment of the Yiyuntian Eranntex online gas monitoring system has effectively resolved the challenges of gas safety monitoring across 10 production units of Huaneng Mengdong, addressing complex, dispersed, and confined environments. Featuring an explosion-proof design, the system enables 24-hour continuous monitoring, multi-level warnings, and centralized control across various high-risk environments. By capturing anomalies in key gases—such as methane and carbon monoxide—in real time and triggering audiovisual and pop-up alerts, the system not only enables personnel to rapidly locate and address hazards but also supports historical data tracking, fully meeting compliance and safety management requirements.

This project involved the deployment of 351 monitoring units and over 20 controllers, achieving centralized management across multiple plant sites and operational scenarios. This setup significantly reduced the burden of manual inspections and improved hazard-handling efficiency, setting a benchmark for intelligent safety monitoring in complex industrial environments such as coal-fired power, district heating, and new energy sectors. Moving forward, Yiyuntian Eranntex will continue to deepen its engagement in the energy industry, refining core technologies like explosion-proof monitoring and wireless networking. The company aims to provide more enterprises with professional, site-specific gas detection solutions, leveraging technology to safeguard high-quality corporate development.
