Specification for installation of hydrogen detector

Publication Date:2021/12/13

As we all know, hydrogen is a very light gas, colorless, odorless, non-toxic, flammable and explosive. Its density (unit: g/cm3 or kg/m3) is very small, only 1/14 of air. Mixing with fluorine, chlorine, oxygen, carbon monoxide and air has the risk of explosion. However, the hydrogen detector is the 1 gas detection instrument used to detect the concentration change of hydrogen gas in the air, which is very suitable for installation and use in artificial gas, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas and other places. What are the installation specifications for hydrogen detector ? The following is a brief introduction by Yi Yuntian:

hydrogen detector installation specification:

1. installation location:

(1) The hydrogen detector is installed in the leak-prone field of the detected gas, the installation position is determined according to the specific gravity of the detected gas relative to the air.

(2) When the specific gravity of the detected gas is greater than the specific gravity of the air, the hydrogen detector should be installed at a distance of (30~60)cm from the ground, and the sensor part is downward.

(3) When the specific gravity of the detected gas is less than the specific gravity of the air, the hydrogen detector should be installed at a distance of (30~60)cm from the ceiling, and the sensor part is downward.

2. installation precautions:

(1) The density of hydrogen gas is less than that of air, the hydrogen detector should be installed 0.5 m -2 m above the leak point with the sensor position down.

(2) according to the relevant provisions of the SH3063-1999 "code for design of combustible and toxic gas detection and alarm for petrochemical enterprises":

article 4.1.3: when the combustible gas release source is in a closed or semi-closed plant, a detector can be set every 15m, and the detector should not be more than 7.5m from any release source. The toxic gas detector should not be more than 1m away from the release source.

article 4.1.5: if the combustible gas release source lighter than air is in a closed or semi-closed plant, a detector shall be set above the release source, and a detector shall also be set at the highest point in the plant where combustible gas is easy to accumulate.

In summary, it is the hydrogen detector installation specification. Hydrogen detector is used to detect the leakage of indoor and outdoor dangerous places, and it is an important instrument to ensure production and personal safety. We install the hydrogen detector, so that when the hydrogen concentration in the environment exceeds the alarm set value, an audible and visual alarm signal will occur, and the personnel on duty can take safety measures in time to avoid explosion accidents.
