What precautions do I need to know before installing a combustible gas alarm?

Publication Date:2022/12/01

In the industrial environment, such as some chemical plants, oil, gas stations, steel plants and other places that use or produce flammable gases, in order to effectively prevent the leakage of flammable gases, it is necessary to install flammable gas alarms to effectively prevent explosions, fires, and poisoning accidents, thereby ensuring safe production. However, we need to know some precautions before installing combustible gas alarm. So do you know what you need to know before installing Combustible Gas Alarm ? The following is a brief introduction by yi yun Tian:

The following notes are required before installing a combustible gas alarm matters:

1. Select Instrument

the explosion-proof category, level and group of the body alarm must meet the requirements of the category, level and group of the explosive gas mixture on site, it shall not be used in the environment allowed by the explosion-proof mark, otherwise it will not play the role of explosion-proof.The instrument selection should consider the formal manufacturer, advanced product technology, sensitive and reliable, to meet the corresponding environmental requirements.

2. Installation quantity

possible large and medium-sized venues, according to relevant regulations, 1 detection points shall be set at every distance of (10~20)m. For relatively closed small space (such as pump room, bottle storage room) should also set up a detection point. When the type of gas in the field environment is complex, the number and model of combustible gas alarm should also be relatively increased. If the combustible gas alarm does not meet the site environment, not only can not detect the concentration of the surrounding environment gas, but also easy to cause the detector failure and damage.

3. Installation environment

for installation in the open air detector probe, temperature and humidity factors must be considered to ensure that the ambient temperature and humidity comply with the instructions for use of combustible gas alarms. The installation of combustible gas alarm should also take into account the impact of halogen compounds on the instrument, otherwise it will reduce the sensitivity of combustible gas alarm, shorten the service life, and seriously make the instrument lose its detection function.

4. Installation location

combustible gas alarm installation location depending on the density of the gas to be measured, for the measured gas with density less than air, the detector probe shall be installed about 1m above the leak point. For the measured gas with density greater than air, the detector probe shall be installed below the leak point and about 0.5m above the ground. For the measured gas with density similar to air, the detector probe shall be as close to the leak point as possible. The installation of the open-air probe should also be selected according to the density of the measured gas. Special attention should be paid to the fact that the detector probe should be installed on the downwind side of the dominant wind direction. After the detector probe is installed and debugged, a breathable waterproof cover must be installed to prevent rain from entering and damaging the probe. The breathable waterproof cover should be cleaned regularly to ensure that the measured gas enters the detector probe normally.

5, cycle check

span> The calibration instrument shall use the standard gas certified by the metrology department to match the measured gas. The zero point gas is introduced to make the instrument display concentration 0% LEL, and then the standard gas with different concentrations is introduced. After the indication value is stable, the instrument is adjusted to the standard indication value. Other indicators shall meet the requirements of the corresponding national metrological verification regulations. The calibration cycle is generally not more than one year. It should also be noted that during the calibration process, if the combustible gas alarm needs to be disassembled and debugged, portable instruments must be worn to detect whether there is combustible gas in the surrounding environment, and explosion-proof interphone must be used to guide the debugging.

6. Periodic check

span> For combustible gas alarm with self-test function, press the "self-check key" once a week to check whether the indicating alarm system is normal; conduct a visual inspection once a week to check the connection parts, movable parts, display and control knob, check the fault light, check the explosion-proof seals and fasteners, check whether the probe is blocked, check the waterproof condition, etc.

In summary, there are some precautions that need to be understood before installing a combustible gas alarm. By understanding these precautions, we can help you better install the combustible gas alarm.
